With the conclusion of a new financing round, the Rostock-based start-up now has almost 1 million euros at its disposal for the market launch of the DUSCHKRAFT® Home.
It is widely known that too much humidity in the bathroom leads to the formation of health-threatening mould. Nevertheless, more than 10% of all bathrooms still have a mould problem today. To finally solve this problem permanently, the Rostock-based Duschkraft GmbH has developed a dehumidifier that is installed directly in the shower and already dehumidifies the air while showering.
Thanks to the patent-pending technology, it is now possible for the first time to dehumidify the air with cold water. This makes the DUSCHKRAFT® Home the most efficient dehumidifier for the bathroom.
After researching the technological principles at the University of Rostock, David Bredt, Stefan Goletzke and Arvid Reinwaldt founded Duschkraft GmbH in March 2017 and were able to complete the first marketable product, the DUSCHKRAFT® Home, at the end of last year. With television appearances in the programme "einfach genial" on MDR and the finale of "Das Ding des Jahres" on ProSieben, the small team has already attracted attention throughout Germany.
With EIT InnoEnergy, TIHA Holding GmbH and Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mbH, major investors have now taken a stake in Duschkraft GmbH and are providing around 1 million euros in new capital for the market launch.
"With the fresh capital, we can now finally build up a large sales team to successfully market our product. In addition, we of course have other product variants and other products in the pipeline that our development team will bring to market in the next few months," says a delighted Managing Director Stefan Goletzke.
EIT InnoEnergy is the innovation driver for sustainable energy in Europe. InnoEnergy supports and invests in innovation at the various points of the value chain and can draw on a strong network of partners. "In our investments, we make sure that the technology is not only environmentally friendly, but above all that it has a real market opportunity in Europe. The founders of Duschkraft GmbH have developed a technology that solves a problem that is widespread throughout Europe. We will therefore specifically support the company in opening up these markets" explains Timo Lassak, Business Creation Manager.
Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mbH already invested in the company in the first round of financing and has now more than doubled its commitment. "We are glad that there are such sensible and innovative ideas in our federal state. The founding team convinced us right from the start and we are sure that our investment will create and secure permanent jobs in our region," says authorised signatory Michael Meis.
TIHA Holding GmbH is a private investment company that specifically invests in young start-up companies in order to support the founders in realising their ideas, and not only financially. "We were immediately convinced by the idea and especially the personalities, prudence and creativity of the 3 founders. Since the technology offers such great growth potential, we have secured the option to double our commitment in a next step beyond our participation in this financing round," says Managing Director Uwe Haratz.
